A young flower, ready to blossom
Remember when you were twelve and everything started changing? Your body, your voice, your interests, your behaviour, your style.
Madelief is now twelve years and ten months old. She is in her early puberty, slowly becoming a young woman and getting ready to leave her warm safe nest and set foot into the outside world.
Her honesty and purity are remarkable. One minute she is very much still the young, energetic and spontaneous child, the other, she is a thoughtful and reflective little lady, interested in grown-up conversations.
The physical and mental changes are a fascinating element in this phase of her life. Although she might not be aware of it herself, I wanted to stop time, just for a little while, to observe this duality and let her remember it forever, because my memories of that specific time have faded away.
